As part of the strategies to ensure that no resident is left behind in the access to quality health services, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu through the Lagos Health Management Agency, LASHMA is targeting over 3 million Lagos residents in the state health insurance scheme.
Within 18 months, a total of 1 million households which translates to 3 million are expected to be captured in the scheme through aggressive sensitization and awareness campaign to inform the populace on the need to embrace the scheme.
Speaking at the launch of the “Ilera Eko” a marketing brand for the scheme, the General Manager, LASHMA, Dr Emanuella Zamba, who disclosed that Governor Sanwo-Olu is determined to ensure greater percentage of the residents is captured in the scheme, described “Ilera Eko” as a call to action for all residents course Lagos State to prioritize their health and buy into the LSHS. She added that access to quality health service for all is possible if everyone get involved in the scheme.

Also speaking, the state Commissioner for Health Professor Akin Abayomi said that LASHMA is the agency responsible for the coordination of the activities that have to do with health insurance in Lagos. He said it was more important that people prioritize their health by paying attention to health insurance more than they do to their properties.
Abayomi, who explained that it is cheaper and better to embrace health insurance scheme, said there are a number health facilities that have partnered with the state government in rendering health services under the scheme, adding that health insurance scheme is the way to go for a sustainable and affordable health system.
On his part, the LASHMA Board Chairman, Dr. Ade Alakija, Governor Sanwo-Olu for giving the necessary support to ensure the scheme takes off in order to guaranty the continued delivery of health services in the state.
